Weekly Vegetable Boxes 5 to choose from ! What is the box scheme?
The weekly box scheme is a way of getting fresh produce from us, the retailer, to you, the consumer, with the minimum of time between harvesting and eating, and with reduced transportation. The vegetable box consists of produce, the majority of which has been grown in the Southwest. Much of the fruit consists of bought in produce but we try to source as much UK grown produce as possible.
The Vegetable Box
What vegetables will you get in your box? In any one week you will receive at least 7 to 8 different vegetables in your box. The variety of vegetables you receive will vary with the seasons: during autumn and winter, potatoes, carrots and onions will be a staple part of your box, whereas during the warmer months you will find lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes appearing frequently in your box. We will try to provide you with as much variety as possible.
How much is the box?
We offer four sizes of Vegetable Box - Small £5.00 Mimi £7.50 Medium £10.00 and Large £12.50 all with different kinds of veg.
We also do a £12 mixed Fruit and Veg Box which has 3 fruit items and 7 veg items.
Recent findings indicate that our vegetables are on average 20% cheaper and our fruit was 30% cheaper than prices charged for produce in Supermarkets and specialist organic outlets.
Will you get enough vegetables?
We have found over the past couple of years that the £7.50 box is sufficient for 2 to 3 people and the larger, £12.50 box, is a good size for a household of 4 - 5 people. Our £12 mixed box is suited to 2 - 3 people.
The Fruit Bag
What fruit will you get in your bag? You will receive a selection of different types of fruit. Apples and oranges will appear regularly but we try to vary the bag by including soft fruit such as raspberries, Blueberries and Strawberries when available
where will the fruit come from?
We try our best to source as much fruit as possible from within the UK
however, much of it will come from abroad, especially during the winter months.
How much is the bag?
We only offer one size of fruit bag, which costs £6.00. You are free to receive more than one.
What if you wish to cancel for a week or go on holiday?
Please let us know at least 3 days in advance if you don't want a box in any particular week.
What if you don't like certain vegetables?
We allow three dislikes per household for which we will try to substitute a different vegetable or increase the amount of other items. (Not available for the fruit box).

Fresh Salads Salads are great any time of the year,
Remember to wash salad greens well and drain completely. Invest in a good salad spinner to remove excess water after washing, so the salad dressing clings to the leaves.
Leafy green (and other colored) vegetables are excellent sources of fiber as well as vitamin A, iron, calcium, and many other nutrients.
Here are some of the most popular salad items with a description of their flavor and pictures so you can Know Your Salad Greens.

English Apples English apples are now in season from July Fresh English apples, fantastic food! One a day to keep the doctor away! Instant energy!
We have over one thousand varieties of apple in the UK but only 15 are grown commercially. Most, like the delicious Cox's Orange Pippin, have been de-listed by supermarkets and as a result most of the trees have been destroyed by growers.
Different varieties of apple are ripening on their trees between now and October. Bramley and Discovery are now in season and should be available to us all. Most fruit and veg is most nutritious and tasty when it is fresh and ripe. Far too much of what we eat has been picked early to satisfy the needs of distribution and shelf life.

Owls Gate is set in 2½ acres of gardens on the edge of Bodmin Moor and 5 miles from the North Cornwall coast. Here we have our workshop where we make beautiful garden tents and marquees to order.
We have set up our orchard to allow camping in a fully kitted-out Belle Tent.
The Site
Owls Gate is at the end of a farm track, is on the side of a shallow valley and is surrounded on three sides by open farmland, home to ponies and rare breed cattle. To the north it is protected by beech trees, beyond which is our only neighbour (100 meters).
The campsite is a south and west facing field with the south bordering onto farmland. It is divided into three shallow terraces with young trees, shrubs and flowers.
There is a sunken lane giving direct access, a walk of about 15 minutes, to Davidstow Moor and Bodmin Moor.
